Company description::
Dear Media Colleague:

Do you ever wonder who purchases automotive literature? McLellan's Automotive History (MAH) has stated for 44 years that it is the "International source of information for publishers, manufacturers, museums, investors, restorers and collectors". It sounds reasonable that those people would have a use and appreciation for sales literature, out-of-print books, dealer albums (paint and upholstery), manuals, etc. Most every auto enthusiast or auto professional enjoys the nostalgia of old cars and the excitement of new ones. Are these just every day folks reliving their youth or indulging in fantasies? Would the President of the United States or famous actors buy car literature? Don't laugh, they do!

MAH customers include Jimmy Carter (a Model A Ford brochure) and the first president George Bush (1947 Studebaker). Prince Charles ordered an Aston Martin catalog and the late Carroll O'Connor ("All in the Family") was a regular customer who also purchased for his car collection. Sometimes there are interesting stories behind the purchase. For instance, the 1947 Studebaker which George Bush drove to Houston is on display in his library in Texas and the brochure was to be part of the display. The curator of the museum showed up at the MAH offices to pick just the right one for the exhibit.

General Motors is currently developing historical exhibits in their museums and MAH is proud to be a supplier of automotive literature. Museums throughout the world have accessed MAH's web site of over 100,000 items to provide them with aids for their automotive showcases. Museums in Japan and Europe are consistent buyers. Often it is difficult to determine exactly who is buying the literature when orders are placed by secretaries or over the Internet but, from the prominent Hollywood, California, and Park Avenue, New York addresses, we suspect the purchaser's name might be someone you all know.
